The 82nd Street Partnership received a $50,000 Neighborhood Challenge award from the Department of Small Business Services on Dec. 17.

The Jackson Heights-based group will offer property owners and merchants free design assistance and a matching construction grant as part of a larger effort to enhance local quality of life, preserve retail diversity and improve business conditions.

By the year’s end, the partnership will have restored seven ground-floor storefronts and three upper-floor facades at three different properties on 82nd Street, between 37th and Roosevelt avenues.

SBS Commissioner Robert Walsh, center, Partnership Executive Director Seth Taylor, in rear fourth from left, and Community Board 3 District Manager Giovanna Reid, center, celebrated with representatives from Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras’ office, the Jackson Heights Beautification Group and store owners.

Welcome to the discussion.
