Rolando Perez, an Elmhurst resident, was arrested last week for killing 29-year-old Carolina Cobena in their apartment.

According to police on Nov. 26, officers responded to a 911 call claiming that a female had been shot in the early hours of the morning on Nov. 26

The police arrived at an apartment building located at 87-36 52 Ave. in Elmhurst at approximately 1:50 a.m. and found Cobena unconscious and unresponsive inside the apartment alone with a gunshot would to the head.

EMS responded soon after and pronounced her dead at the scene.

On Nov. 27, one day after Cobena’s body was found, police arrested Rolando Perez, a 52-year-old man, for allegedly murdering her.

According to the NYPD, the two shared a residence together though it is unclear what kind of relationship they maintained.

Perez has been charged with murder in the second degree and criminal use of a firearm.
