Two NYPD officers were injured after their patrol car was hit by an allegedly drunk driver in Ozone Park just after midnight Sunday morning.

Police say a car slammed into an NYPD vehicle at 104th Street and 107th Avenue, about four blocks from the 106th Precinct, around 12:15 a.m. The two officers who were in the car were taken to the hospital with injuries to the knee and back, according to an officer at the scene.

An NYPD spokesman did not know which hospital the officers were taken to and said the injuries were likely not serious.

The driver of the car who hit the officers was identified as 20-year-old Nandaram Persaud of 105th Street. He allegedly fled the scene and was captured two blocks away from the accident scene at 106th Street and 107th Avenue a short time later and arrested.

Persaud was charged with vehicular assault, obstruction of governmental administration, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol while being under the age of 21.
