Creation of the proposed QueensWay park and bikeway along the long abandoned Rockaway Beach Branch line, which is already owned by the City of New York and already contains some 20 acres of parkland, would tie in perfectly to an expanded National Park. The QueensWay would enable bicyclists to ride down to bike lanes in Howard Beach that link up with the existing and new bikeways planned for Jamaica Bay, whereas the rail line that already runs by the refuge has no station providing access to the Park.
