The School Sisters of Notre Dame Educational Center held their annual fundraiser, this year called “A Night Out Italian Style,” on Tuesday at Roma View Fine Catering in Howard Beach.

Adriana Trigani, the New York Times best-selling author, top right, attended the event and raffled off copies of her most recent book, “The Shoemaker’s Wife.”

Attendees also bid for a trip to anywhere in Europe from Alitalia Airlines.

The SSND Educational Center is a nonprofit based in Woodhaven that offers classes to economically disadvantaged women to prepare them for the state GED exam. It also offers English as a Second Language classes.

SSND Executive Director Catherine Feeney, top left, and Councilman Eric Ulrich also joined the festivities, among other community leaders.

Welcome to the discussion.
