Three men stole $47,000 in prize money in a holdup at an Ozone Park bowling alley last week.

The heist occurred last Thursday afternoon at the Cozy Bowl at 98-18 Rockaway Blvd. According to sources, the robbery happened while $100,000 in prize money for a men’s bowling league was being counted at the location. The three men, all wearing masks, broke in and demanded money. They made off with $47,000. No one was injured.

Police are looking into the possibility that the robbery was an inside job conducted by a former member of the league or a former employee who may have known the victims were to be counting the money at that time.

Cozy Bowl has been targeted by robbers before.

In November, 2012 a masked man broke into the bowling alley just after the facility closed. The suspect tied up the employees who were still inside and demanded money. He made off with several thousand dollars. No one was hurt in that heist either.
