Hundreds of people attended the Ozone Park Civic Association’s annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Ozone Howard Little League baseball fields last weekend.

The sixth annual event brought out more than 170 children, who scoured the fields looking for eggs.

Every child who participated won a prize.

The youngsters were delighted to spend their day with the Easter Bunny, who, don’t tell the little ones, was really Sean McCabe, a Howard Beach resident who served in Iraq. His mother, Pat McCabe, who works for state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach), also attended the event.

The smaller residents were not the only ones excited to celebrate the spring with the Easter Bunny — adults lined up to get their photos with the brightly colored hare as well.

Civic members said it meant a lot to the community to have Sean McCabe as the bunny because he is a local hero and so many look up to him.

The Ozone Park Civic Association hosts a number of events throughout the year, and the group brings out guest speakers at its monthly meetings.

The next meeting will be held April 19 at 8 p.m. at 97-14 135 Drive in Ozone Park.

The guest speaker will be James Capozzi, a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He will speak about the FBI’s InfraGard program, for which he is a coordinator.
