Another push ahead toward normal in Howard Beach’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy continues more than six months later.

The Old Mill Yacht Club got ready for another summer season last weekend with the club’s grand reopening of its building at 162-31 Cross Bay Blvd. on the banks of Shellbank Basin. The building suffered damage in Sandy last October.

Besides being a place for those who love sailing and yachting, the club is also a popular banquet hall for parties and community meetings.

The yacht club dates back to 1894 and this year welcomed its first female member, Susan Brown.
