One man was stabbed to death and another was injured in what is believed to have been a mid-afternoon assault on the two men on a busy stretch of Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to a call of a stabbing outside 126-19 Jamaica Ave. at 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday and found the victim, a Hispanic man in his 30's whose identity has not yet been released, stabbed in the back. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, which was only a few blocks away, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A second victim, a 17-year-old Hispanic man, had minor injuries as a result of being hit in the shoulder with a rock. He refused medical attention at the scene.

Police say they believe the two were attacked by a group of men while walking along Jamaica Avenue.  There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
