Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D-Rockaway Park) just got a big thumbs up from across the aisle.
Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) announced he would back Goldfeder’s campaign for re-election. Ulrich madetheannouncement at a fundraiser for Goldfeder in Rockaway Tuesday evening. The two represent much of the same area, including the Rockaways, Howard Beach, Broad Channel and Ozone Park.
Goldfeder is widely considered one of the more moderate Democrats in the city’s Albany delegation.
Though Goldfeder is being endorsed by Ulrich and several other local Republicans, he will not have the party’s line in the November general elections because petitioning for that race has already begun. He will be running unopposed however.
In 2012, Goldfeder was endorsed by and given the ballot line of the Conservative Party, which typically backs Republicans. He was first elected in a special election in 2011 over Republican Jane Deacy, an ex-cop from Breezy Point, who had Ulrich’s support.
