On Earth Day, April 22, a group of 175 volunteers from the Estee Lauder Co. teamed up with the American Littoral Society and Ocean Conservancy to remove marine debris from several sites at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.

Elizabeth Stoehr, Dylan Edmonds, Lisa Scheppke and Don Riepe of the American Littoral Society brought the group to four different sites and removed over 12,000 pounds of debris from the intertidal zone and beach areas.

Estee Lauder volunteers stand with trash bags full of debris, top, while more volunteers pick up strewn garbage and washed-up flotsam at Dubbs Point in Broad Channel.
