Starting today, June 5, representatives from the city’s storm rebuilding program, Build it Back, will be stationed in state Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr.’s (D-Howard Beach) office, 159-53 102 St. every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. to meet with residents.

The city’s post-Sandy recovery program, marred with problems since its creation a year ago, has officials on the ground in Rockaway. Addabbo said he wants them in Howard Beach as well.

“Time and time again my constituents come to me and say they either haven’t heard a word from Build it Back, or they are being given the runaround,” he said in a statement. “It’s time to bring the program’s representatives straight to the people, where they can be given the attention and face-to-face courtesy they deserve.”

The Build it Back staff will file paperwork for residents, investigate individual cases and potentially conduct option-review meetings. Those interested in a meeting are advised to make an appointment by calling Pat McCabe at (718) 738-1111, but walk-ins are welcome. Property owners should bring any and all Build it Back paperwork they have.
