Veterans can find out about job opportunities and training, benefit counseling, legal and social services, readjustment counseling, special services for female veterans and more at a welcome back vets event at York College on July 20.

Although it will be a day to celebrate all veterans and their families, there will also be a myriad of services offered. Organizations that assist homeless veterans with job placement will be there conducting a workshop. There will also be a veterans’ benefits workshop and a job readiness class, which will include resume writing and interview techniques. Companies that have confirmed attendance are NYC Transit, LIRR, Home Depot, Delta Airlines, NYPD, Devry University, Queensborough Community College and National Grid. There will be free parking, free food and entertainment for the family and kids.

The event will take place in the atrium at York from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The college is located at 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. in Jamaica. For more information call the United Coalition for Veterans and Community Rights at (347) 70-UCVCR (82827).

Welcome to the discussion.
