The Queens Lesbian and Gay Pride Committee will be holding its annual fundraiser, the Winter Pride Dinner Dance, to recognize and honor those who have contributed to the LGBT movement in Queens and provide funding to produce the Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival held each year on the first Sunday in June.
The Dinner Dance will be held at Astoria World Manor, 25-22 Astoria Blvd., on Jan. 22 from 7 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $95 in advance at queenspride.com or $100 at the door. The price includes a cocktail hour, four-course dinner, open bar, dancing and live entertainment.
This year’s honorees are Pedro Julio Serrano, communications manager of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and Fran Rolan, human resource director at Heritage of Pride.
Both have a long history of serving the LGBT community. Rolan is also active as a lesbian mother, while Serrano has worked within the Hispanic community.
The QLGPC’s mission is to foster understanding of the LGBT community. The organization produces the annual Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival as the main vehicle to achieve its goals.
