Queens sees a light snowfall
Queens woke up to a thin blanket of snow Friday morning, nothing like what came down in the last storm but enough to louse up the morning commute on the one hand and beautify unpaved areas on the other.
The city got just a couple inches from a nor'easter, dubbed Saturn by the Weather Channel, which has taken to naming snowstorms the way the government names hurricanes. The snow was heavier farther east on Long Island.
Light snow or a rain-snow mix is expected to keep coming down Friday afternoon, as temperatures hover just above freezing, and the National Weather Service said any additional accumulation in Queens should be less than an inch. The weather is expected to clear up overnight, with sunny skies Saturday. It will also be getting much warmer. Saturday's high is forecast at 45 degrees, Sunday's at 49 and Monday's at 55.
Sunday will only be a 23-hour day, as clocks get turned forward one hour at 2 a.m. for Daylight Saving Time.
