On to the academies

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Flushing) announced that seven area students from Queens have been accepted to the United States service academies after the Congresswoman nominated them to attend the prestigious institutions.

She recently greeted six of them. They are Kytoh Li , left, of Flushing (Naval Academy); Julia Hsu of Flushing (West Point Prep School); Daniel Roman of Maspeth (West Point); Meng; Jimmy Peraffan of Glendale (Naval Academy); Francesco Rojas of Glendale (Naval Academy); and Yennifer Posada of Flushing (Merchant Marine Prep School). Not present was Elizabeth Kim of Flushing (Naval Academy).

The academies consist of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland; U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado; U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at New London, Connecticut.
