Bus riders along the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Q31 and Q77 lines will be seeing enhanced weekend service beginning Sunday.

The Q31, which runs between Francis Lewis Boulevard and 27th Ave in Bayside and the Long Island Rail Road station on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, will see a restoration of weekend service that had been eliminated during the financial crisis in 2010.

Buses will run between 8:20 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays, and between 9:10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sundays. The Q77, which runs between Springfield Boulevard/145th Road in Laurelton and the Jamaica bus terminal at 165th Street, now will have a full schedule of Sunday service to go along with the existing runs on Saturdays.

Sunday buses will operate between 6:55 a.m. and 10:09 p.m.

In a statement issued by its NYC Transit division, the MTA said the new service, along with upgraded Sunday service on Manhattan’s M8 route, are part of a citywide, $7.9 million transit reinvestment plan.
