Just call him “Professor Liu.”

Former city Comptroller John Liu announced Wednesday that he is taking a part-time position with Baruch College teaching public policy and municipal finance in the Master of Public Administration program.

He will cover a wide range of topics, including accounting, auditing, debt issuance and investment management. His class will also analyze the city’s economic development policy, labor relations and the impact of pension and healthcare costs.

Liu, who also previously served as a city councilman representing Flushing, indicated that the college position is only one career change and that he will make another announcement soon.

A one-term comptroller, Liu ran for mayor and came in fourth in the September Democratic primary. Many blamed his poor showing on the Campaign Finance Board’s decision to deny him $3.5 million in matching funds that handicapped his run. The CFB refused the money due to illegal fundraising by some in his campaign.
