Signing the petition against the JFK expansion.
This is the url where you can sign: http://www.change.org/petitions/stop-the-jamaica-bay-runway-at-jfk. Only thousands of signatures will indicate the broad opposition to this unnecessary and uneconomical plan. The site also shows why it is important to stop this expansion and it is not only local noise and air pollution, but also the global warming effect of an expansionistic aviation industry.
Also note that a campaign is being organized that would add not only local groups and civic groups that are members of www.metronyaviation.org, the SAFE, Inc. coalition to its membership, but also the climate community. It is the intention that this Campaign follows the strategy of the Heathrow campaign in London which after ten years stopped the third runway. Cf. www.hacan.org.uk and also www.aviationjustice.org who invited the HACAN ClearSkies leadership to the US in October last year.
