Ice cream and politics go together like bread and butter. Right?
Well, they do at least for the family- owned Long Island City ice cream shop Malu, which made flavors for the Taste of LIC and the SculptureCenter’s block party.
Over the last few weeks people suggested different President Obama and Mitt Romney flavors, in the spirit of Election Day on Nov. 6.
From all the ideas, husband and wife ice- cream-making-team Jennifer Ducek and Sergio Garcia made “Obama’s From Hawaii and FORWARD” and “Romney’s Boston COMEBACK Cream Pie.”
Obama’s treat is a mix of roasted pineapple, chocolate and macadamia nuts for his Hawaiian roots, while Romney’s flavor is a homage to his time as governor of Massachusetts, with Boston cream pie custard, a fudge ripple and vanilla cake pieces
“We will see which flavor was the most popular and will call the election. Could this be the new straw poll … or just a yummy way to make it to Election Day?” the Malu website says.
As of Thursday more people preferred Romney’s flavor.
