Joan Palmentiere, a teacher in Jamaica, Queens is 1st Prize winner of a Sharp 22" LCD TV from G&R Electronics

The winners of the contest were picked by Assistant Principal Ms. Trujillo and the Student Council of P.S. 99 in Kew Gardens

Each student drew a winner prize as well as Ms. Trujillo.

Contest WINNERS:

1st Prize: Joan Palmentiere of College Point winner of a SHARP 22" LCD TV from G&R Electronics located at 114-04 Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill

2nd Prize: Ann Marrero of Astoria winner of a $250 Gift Certificate to Velvet Effect Laser Hair Removal located at 62-85 Woodhaven Blvd. in Rego Park

3rd Prize:Alex Zavaleta of Woodhaven winner of a $100 Gift Certificate to Lemon Tree Family Hair Salon located at 91-04 63rd Drive in Rego Park

4th Prize: Mary Ost of Astoria winner of a $50 Gift Certificate to 5 Burro Cafe located at 72-05 Austin Street in Forest Hills

2. Name three famous musicians from Queens: Some of the answers included John Coltrane, Scott Joplin, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Bert Bacharach

3. Who is the borough of Queens named after? Queen Consort Catherine of Braganza, wife of British King Charles II, though many say the borough was named for queens in general, not a specific one. Catherine held the throne at the time.
