Early storm hits New York

On Saturday, New York got an unusually early taste of winter
when over an inch and in some places as many as six inches of snow
fell, according to the National Weather Service.
The storm left some 500 people in Queens and Brooklyn without
power, according to Con Edison. In total, 77,000 people lost power
throughout the two boroughs, Staten Island, the Bronx and
Westchester County. Nine deaths have been reported thus far as a
result of the storm, including two in the Bronx.
Many Queens residents, like these from Sunnyside and, in the
eighth photo, Middle Village, met the wet day with umbrellas.
