Students from Long Island City High School’s Careers through Culinary Arts Program showcase their turkey wraps and cookies at the inaugural event for the New York City Education In Action film forum at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria last month.
More than 200 students watched the film “Pressure Cooker,” which chronicles the lives of a culinary arts teacher and her pupils enrolled in a Careers through Culinary Arts program in a Philadelphia high school where more than 40 percent of the students do not make it to their senior year.
