Community Board 6 will host a public hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 13 on an application from the Department of Parks and Recreation to lease two-thirds of an acre to the United States Tennis Association’s National Tennis center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

The meeting will begin at 7:45 p.m. and will take place in the Kew Gardens Community Center, located on the second floor at 80-02 Kew Gardens Road.

The application is labeled as “USTA Expansion.”

The land in question is described on CB 6’s agenda as being located “northerly of United Nations Avenue North, between Meridian Road and Path of the Americas.”

The USTA is planning a multi-year, $500-million expansion of the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, which currently sprawls atop 42 acres in the park.

It is the site of the U.S. Open Championship, the fourth and final Grand Slam event held every year in professional tennis.

Individuals and representatives of organizations will be permitted to speak during the meeting’s public forum session.
