Well said CleanUpJamaicaQueens -- you hit all the right points about this issue!! This is why I did NOT vote for de Blasio -- this is only the beginning.

Legalizing basement and cellar apartments are a horrible idea, especially in Queens where the city is doing nothing about all the illegal apartments here. These apartments are always problematic, have many issues, attract usually an undesirable element, brings down property values, destroys communities and make over crowded communities even more crowded. The Department of Buildings cannot handle the illegal apartments, so who is even going to monitor these "legal" ones.

As usual another big screw to Queens. I love when people who do not live in these communities or who do not have these types of apartments on their block, telling us they we will have these in our communities. Put two on both sides of your place in Park Slope de Blasio and Julissa Ferreras.

I am sorry I voted for this guy. Already off on a bad foot.

Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras (D- East Elmhurst) stands with de Blasio in supporting the legalization of basement apartments, saying in a statement that it would be a “win for all New Yorkers.”

Exactly how is the a win for all New Yorkers, Ferreras, you are full of crap.
