To celebrate the winter solstice, the Queens Botanical Garden at 43-50 Main St. in Flushing, will host a day of family activities on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

The free event will include garden tours, craft programs to make pomanders and beeswax candles, music and a tree lighting with a sing-along.

A holiday marketplace with vendors and refreshments will be for sale. Photos with Santa Claus will also be available starting at $10.

A concert by the Rough Dozen, an all-male a cappella ensemble, will perform in the auditorium.

Most of the other programs will be held outside.

Parking is available for a fee in the parking garden.
