The Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing celebrated the winter solstice with a day of programming last Sunday.

Crafts were high on the list for youngsters. Brandon Lee, 6, of Little Neck, top, got some help with his project from Bowne High School intern Eric Paucar.

Participants made fragrant pomanders from oranges and cloves and created bees- wax candles.

Above, Ketan Modi, left, of Forest Hills and his son Tejas listen to holiday tunes from QBG employee Farah Chandu.

The event included a tree lighting with sing-along, a holiday marketplace and photos with Santa Claus.

Welcome to the discussion.
