Councilman Paul Vallone (D-Bayside) announced last week the names of the first students selected for his educational ambassador program.

They are: Nabil Tavarez and Joseph Lombardi of Holy Cross High School; Sydney Boodoo, Michael Flores Ribbeck and Brenda Ruiz of Bayside High School; and Harvind Japra, Raj Vaidya and Ruchi Vaidya of World Journalism Prep School.St. Agnes Academic High School has yet to name its participants.

“Each high school in our district will be sending us the best and brightest to become the ambassadors for the rest of the city to see and emulate. They will come to City Hall and present legislation they will have drafted, engage in district and citywide community service, and work with our district attorney, borough president and City Comptroller’s Office ... ” Vallone said.

Following a recent visit to World Journalism Prep and seeing the professionalism of the students in the ambassador program there, Vallone decided to use their model to create an expanded program through his Council office.

Welcome to the discussion.
