Community Board 7 voted Monday night to rename parts of two streets in Whitestone after victims of the World Trade Center attacks almost 10 years ago.
Dominick Berardi Way will be located at 149th Street and 32nd Avenue, while Jennifer Y. Wong Way will be situated at Utopia Parkway and 169th Street. Although the City Council will have to approve the renaming, no opposition is expected.
Berardi, 25, worked for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 101st floor of Tower 1. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Flushing.
His sister-in-law, Jennifer Berardi, who requested the street renaming, called him “a loving, kind and caring individual.” He lived at home with his parents and younger brother.
Wong, 26, served as a risk management technologist with Marsh & McLennan on the 96th floor of Tower 1. She had returned a day earlier from a week in Italy with two friends.
She was a graduate of Townsend Harris High School in Flushing and SUNY Binghampton. Wong was also an active member of the Chinese Evangel Mission Church in Chinatown.
Wong lived at home with her parents and brother and sister.

I was so glad to find this article which puts a face to "Dominick Berardi Way". I go by this street very frequently, and I will always think of the terrible loss Dominick's family has to endure. I am sure I will go by "Jennifer Y. Wong Way" at some time, and I will think of her and her family also.
