Third-graders read to win

Seven third-graders were the recipients recently of reading awards in a program sponsored by Councilman Peter Koo of Flushing and the NY Mets.

One child from each Flushing school was named a winner for reading an age-appropriate book in May and for writing a report on his or her favorite book.

The winners are Michael Zheng, PS 20; Kush Raval, PS 24; Amy Choe, PS 242; Kelly Li, PS 162; Brayan Castillo, PS 200; Angela Recine, PS 177; and Kashuan Keller, PS 214. With Koo are Keller, left, Zheng, Raval, Choe and Li.

Winners received a $50 gift card, a certificate and tickets to a Mets game.
