Whitestone’s own Katherine McQuade is spending her summer studying with the world-famous precision dancers that dazzle audiences every Christmas sesason.

The 17-year-old was accepted into the Rockettes Summer Intensive, a week-long program for aspiring Radio City Rockettes.

“I went to the audition in January and I’ll tell you it was intense,” Katherine said. “I felt pretty confident at the end of the audition. I just really hoped I got it and I did, and the rest is history.”

Katherine is studying with the Rockettes, along with their director and choreographer. The program focuses on the world-famous choreography and formations found on Radio City Music Hall’s stage.

“I absolutely just love the Rockettes — the precision dancing, the personality,” Katherine said. “The intensive definitely helps you become a Rockette. The dance world is a small world and they definitely remember you.”

She continued, “I’m a fun girl from Whitestone trying to make my dreams become a reality, which is to become a famous Radio City Rockette.”
