A beloved teacher from PS 41 in Bayside was honored Friday with a street renaming outside the school on 214th Lane.

Geri Cilmi, a science teacher, died three years ago from colon cancer. She had taught at the school for 19 years.

Students at the school helped unveil the new street sign with Cilmi’s husband, Tom.

PS 41 Principal Sari Latto said Cilmi was “an extraordinary science educator for our school. She truly brought science to life for her students and touched many lives.”

The ceremony was hosted by Councilman Paul Vallone, who said the late teacher impacted many lives and “will forever be in our hearts.”

Welcome to the discussion.
