After nearly 20 years as CEO and executive vice president of the Samuel Field Y of Little Neck, Steve Goodman is retiring from his position.
“Not only did the Samuel Field Y see tremendous growth and success under Steve’s guidance, but his impact was felt on a personal level as well,” the Y said in a statement. “It didn’t matter if you were a full-time or part-time staff member, or one of our many programs’ participants, Steve took the time to get to know everybody who he came in contact with inside and outside of the Y.”
Goodman began his work with the Y as a summer camp counselor when he was just 16 years old, but eventually rose to become the CEO and executive vice president in 1995.
In addition to his work at the Y, Goodman is a dedicated educator. He has been an adjunct professor at C.W. Post in Brookville in psychology for almost a decade and served as the coordinator of the gifted and talented program at IS 195 among numerous other positions. Goodman will stay on with the Y as an agency consultant
Associate executive director Jeri Mendelsohn will now assume the position of CEO and executive vice president.
“Jeri has been an integral part of the executive team of the Samuel Field Y for over 10 years,” the statement read. “She has inspired the staff on a daily basis by serving as a leader who sets an example for excellence.”
