A rooftop bar with dining may be coming to Bayside if the Department of Buildings and the state Liquor Authority approve the plans.
At its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Community Board 11 members were told that Bourbon Street Restaurant, a popular eatery at 40-12 Bell Blvd., wants to add the rooftop area. The report was informational as the board was not required to vote on the issue.
CB 11 District Manager Susan Seinfeld said most members favored the plan, although there were concerns about safety and late-night noise. Bourbon Street wants to keep the rooftop facility open until 4 a.m., which members objected to. Seinfeld said on Tuesday that she believed the facility had later agreed to close at 3 a.m.
But the rooftop plans have to first be approved by the DOB as a certificate of occupancy is required. Once that is received, the SLA makes the final decision.
Seinfeld noted that the SLA allows six months to grant such a plan and that it was unlikely to go through soon “as it may take some time.”
