An early morning fire ripped through an apartment in Jamaica Estates on Tuesday, leading to the death of one man and leaving two others injured.

The fire broke out shortly after 5 a.m. on the second floor of 182-30 Wexford Terrace, a six-story building one block north of Hillside Avenue, near The Mary Louis Academy.

Sixty firefighters reportedly spent over 40 minutes combating the blaze.

After controlling the flames, responders found Henry Schwan, 62, unconsious and unresponsive. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

Another victim, reportedly Schwan’s 97-year-old mother, was pulled out of the fire and taken to New York Hospital Queens, where she was listed in stable condition.

A firefighter was also taken from the scene to Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica, reportedly suffering from minor injuries.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, though no foul play was suspected.
