Oceania Street in Bayside (on the corner of Horace Harding Expressway) will be transformed into a street festival on Sept. 7, from noon to 9 p.m. There will be ethnic food, live entertainment, vendors, games and rides for the children.

Hosted by the Armenian Church of the Holy Martyrs, this annual street festival, which attracts thousands, will be an afternoon to remember. This year the festival promises to be even greater than in the past because the church is also celebrating its 55th anniversary at the same time.

The festivities will include all-day entertainment by international superstar Robert Chilingirian, performances from the Holy Martyrs Aradzani and Hye Bar Dance Groups, the Antranig Dance Ensemble, the Greek Samos Society Pythagoras, the Vanush Khanamiryan Dance Academy of New York, singers Kristy and Julie Asriyan and more.

Vendors will be lined along the street selling their wares, the Hye Market will be selling food to eat and take home and an “Attic Treasures” booth will have lots to browse and buy. Come and enjoy Middle Eastern food — appetizers, assorted kebabs and homemade desserts — while spending a great day outdoors.

Admission to the festival is free and there will be plenty of indoor and outdoor (open-air and covered) seating for all. Rain date: Sept. 8.

For individuals who are interested in vendor opportunities or further information, contact the church office at (718) 225-0235 or go to their website holy-martyrs.org.

Welcome to the discussion.
