A 30 foot holiday tree was lit Monday night in front of the Flushing Library, signalling that Christmas is only four weeks away. The annual event was sponsored by the Flushing Development Center. There was singing and participation by local officials. Santa Claus also made an appearance to the delight of youngsters.
Last week, the Flushing Business Improvement District lit the holiday lights on Main Street and adjacent thoroughfares to usher in the season.
The library site also features a large menorah that is lit for each night of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, which begins this year on Dec. 15.
