Grant Lally, a Republican lawyer from Lloyd Harbor, LI, who announced last month that he will run to oppose Rep. Steve Israel, has been endorsed by the Queens County Conservative Party.
Israel represents parts of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, including Douglaston, Whitestone, Little Neck and Floral Park.
Lally will be challenged on both the Republican and Conservative tickets by Steve Labate, a financial planner of Deer Park, LI.
The attorney says he wants to lower taxes and repeal Obamacare.
Lally has run for office twice before, both against former Congressman Gary Ackerman in 1994 and 1996.
In related news, it was announced last week that a federal court judge had thrown out Lally’s request to have one of his clients’ cases delayed, saying it would be unfair to Republican candidates seeking office. The client is Vince Tabone, a former Queens Republican leader allegedly involved in a federal bribery case with Sen. Malcolm Smith (D-Hollis), and former Whitestone Councilman Dan Halloran. A June court date has been set.
