Harvest fest set at garden

A harvest fest and pumpkin patch program celebrating fall will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main St. in Flushing.

There will be live entertainment, children’s activities, a bird and nature walk and a seasonal beer tent.

The walk will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a tai chi demonstration at 12:30 p.m. Live performances will feature the Lonesome Moonlight String Band and DJ Ito.

QBG Executive Director Susan Lacerte will lead a garden tour at 2 p.m.

A pumpkin patch program begins at noon with children decorating pumpkins for $5.

New this year are pony rides and a petting zoo from noon to 4 p.m. There will also be face painting, games, crafts and more.

There will be demonstrations by the Fire Department and an apple cider pressing starting at 2 p.m.

Food will be available for purchase from area restaurants plus craft brews.

Admission to the garden is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children.
