John Bowne High School in Flushing held its first March Madness cheerleading competition and demonstrations on Sunday at the school on Main Street.
The Owls cheerleaders, top, from PS 71 in Ridgewood, showed off their skills to an enthusiastic audience of parents and friends.
The Bowne Wildcat cheerleaders, above, gave the crowd a high-spirited performance as well. The squad was formed a year ago and the coaches say it has given new spirit to the school.
The squad is coached by Bowne alumnus Nicholas Pabon with help from art teacher Melissa Alvarez.
