An 8-year-old boy was found strangled in his bed Sunday night by police and his father found unconscious nearby after allegedly slashing his wrists at their Fresh Meadows apartment.
The father, Boujeke Kenmo, 41, was charged with his son's murder, District Attorney Richard Brown announced Tuesday afternoon. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
Kenmore allegedly told EMS workers that he had killed his son and then attempted suicide, Brown reported.
“This is a horrifying case of a father accused of murdering his own son, a defenseless eight-year-old boy, by choking him to death," the DA said in announcing the charge. "The defendant’s actions, if true, are incomprehensible in a civilized society and must be severely punished.”
The family lived in an apartment at 169-17 Underhill Ave. At least some neighbors reported no problems with the family.
