It’s never too early to learn the finer points of fly fishing.
Last Sunday, Frederick Thomer, center, a fly fishing guru, taught mostly youngsters how to cast and reel during a class at Alley Pond Environmental Center in Douglaston.
The class began indoors with the history of the sport, how to tie lures and the best techniques to catch a fish.
The class then proceeded outside where casting was easier, but the tides did not cooperate and water access proved difficult.
APEC’s next family class is an astronomy adventure on July 19 from 8 to 10 p.m. Call (718) 229-4000 for information.
