Students and members of Publicolor, a New York City-based nonprofit organization, painted the cafeteria and playground of PS/MS 219, Paul Klapper School in Flushing on Saturday as part of PublicolorDay celebration.

PublicolorDay is an event where students participate in the transformation of school and community sites.

“Students gain pride because they are taking part in upgrading their own building,” Frederick Wright, principal of PS/MS 219, said. “That puts the value of the school into them.”

PublicolorDay is an annual event designated by Mayor Bloomberg.

Welcome to the discussion.
