The Environmental Protection Agency on April 19 presented Councilman Jim Gennaro (D-Fresh Meadows) with its Environmental Quality Award, given by Regional Administrator Judith Enck, right, for his work trying to protect the city’s environment during his three terms in office.

“As I approach the end of my tenure as chair of the City Council Committee on Environmental Protection, I am proud of the progress we as a city have made toward a greener, more sustainable New York,” Gennaro said.

The lawmaker and geologist has authored 30 laws meant to protect the city’s air, water, drinking water and wetlands, as well as clean up brownfield sites during his tenure in the City Council.

Welcome to the discussion.
