Mets legend Darryl Strawberry celebrated his 50th birthday with adoring fans Monday at his sports grill in Douglaston.
The all-star slugger greeted each fan individually, signing autographs, baseballs and shirts and posing for pictures.
Fans signed a large birthday card, which was presented to Strawberry during the evening.
Diners at the packed restaurant sang “Happy Birthday” to Strawberry as he blew out the candles on his Mets-themed cakes. Everyone got a taste.
Strawberry spoke briefly, thanking Mets fans for their support over the years, saying it was something very special to him.
