Defending women’s champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium and Spain’s Rafael Nadal were this year’s winners at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows Park.

Clijsters beat Vera Zvonareva of Russia on Saturday to capture her second women’s championship.

Rain on Sunday caused the men’s finals to be postponed to Monday and two rain delays held up the event that day. But Nadal was finally victorious, beating Novak Djokovic of Serbia for his ninth Grand Slam singles title.

This was Nadal’s first win at the U.S. Open and he is the youngest champs at 24 to complete a career Grand Slam.

The annual high-profile tournament ran from Aug. 30 to Sept. 13 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
