Attendees of St. Andrew Avellino church were treated to a festive event recently in Flushing as it celebrated its 17th annual Multicultural Sunday.

A procession of children and parents decked out in their native country’s attire opened the noon Mass.

Deacon Eugene Wohlfarth, rear right, and Father Joseph Holcomb, rear left, gathered for photos with members of the procession, which included costumed dancers and musicians.

Prayers were recited in seven languages by the parishioners who also prepared international dishes for all participants.

Holcomb highlighted the diversified community of the 100-year-old parish in his sermon.

Welcome to the discussion.
