A huge community turnout sparked the official reopening recently of the Bayside Library on Northern Boulevard.

The facility closed for renovations at the end of last year and reopened in June.

Celebrating here are Assemblyman Ed Braunstein, left, state Sen. Tony Avella, Library Manager Jean Lee, Queens Library COO Tom Galante and Rep. Grace Meng. The $1.3 million remodeling included a complete interior makeover, with self-service checkout and 24/7 self-check-in; separate areas for teens, adults and children and full handicap accessibility.

Built in 1965, the Bayside branch is one of the most heavily used in Queens.

Welcome to the discussion.
