AThe Auburndale branch of the Queens Library will be closed after this week while its roof is reconstructed.

The building at 25-55 Francis Lewis Blvd. will shut down at the end of business on Friday. During the closure, limited library service will be provided by a mobile library every Monday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m., starting June 17.

Library customers are also invited to visit any of the Queens Library’s other locations. The closest to Auburndale are the Whitestone branch at 151-10 14th Road, the Bay Terrace library at 18-36 Bell Blvd. in Bay Terrace and the McGoldrick branch at 155-06 Roosevelt Ave. in Flushing, which has a 24/7 self-service return kiosk. Materials may be renewed online at the library’s website queenslibrary.org/myaccount or via phone at (718) 990-8508.

The branch is expected reopen sometime in July, according to spokeswoman Joanna King.

Renovations are currently being undertaken in several Queens Library branches including Bayside, Elmhurst, Kew Gardens Hills and Woodhaven.

Welcome to the discussion.
