On Oct. 11 Queens District Attorney Richard Brown met with the mother of Noel Polanco, the 22-year-old who was shot dead by police a week ago, to discuss the DA's investigation into the incident.

Cecilia Reyes was accompanied by her attorneys, Sanford Rubenstein and Michael Hardy.

"I assured them that our investigation is active and ongoing and that it will be completed as expeditiously as possible.  I pointed out, however, that the investigation is still in its early stages," Brown said.

He added that he expects to present the conclusions of his office's investigation to a grand jury. However, Brown would not expand on any details of the incident.

"The interest of a fair and impartial investigation precludes me from doing so," Brown said. "My primary responsibility is to ensure that nothing compromises or prejudices this investigation and a discussion of that which purportedly occurred – based upon preliminary and, in many instances, unsubstantiated facts – would be inconsistent with that responsibility."
